John Gibson finishes his summer scouting internship this week and will be missed.  He has learned a lot of practical knowledge that he will be able to use after school as he pursues a career in agriculture. John was very good at keeping an eye on the Raber and Churubusco area which is quite large.  He will return to Purdue as a senior in Ag Systems Management in a few weeks.

Not just good at scouting John is a talented bag mover! If you have visited the Churubusco drive through you know how speedy he is and always with a smile on his face.

Christy Penner is a sophomore at Purdue University and has been scouting around South Whitley.  Here is her update:

Most of the fungicide application in corn has been completed.  A team of four helicopters finished up 15,000 acreas.  If you are going to spray beans odds are they are in the right stage.  I haven't seen any serious insect damage or weeds.

This is my last week and I have had a great summer getting to know the local growers.  I very much enjoyed my classroom in the fields and learned a great deal.  I hope our scouting has been beneficial to you and please don't hesitate next year if you'd like one of your fields scouted.  Check out the rest of the website, its been updated!

This is why I'm usually behind the camera, not in front of it!

Nicole Bartel has finished up her summer here at Ag Plus but was very thankful for this opportunity.  She really enjoyed scouting fields in Woodburn and hopes her advice was helpful.  Along with scouting Nicole visited several dairy farms to test feed and help local producers become more efficient.  Nicole will start her senior year at Michigan State in two weeks.  She is also busy planning a January wedding.  Good luck Nicole!
